Course Summary

Join our 8-week course designed for migrants to explore their unique journey through the art of performance. Each class teaches you acting techniques to create and perform an autobiographical monologue.

Express your story, build confidence, and connect with others through storytelling. By the end of the course, you will master stage presence, voice control, and interpretation.

The course culminates in a live theatre presentation, where you will share your story with the community. Leave as a confident actor, ready to make your voice heard and connect through shared experiences. No experience needed.

 

What you will learn

Acting Techniques 

  • fundamental skills in acting, including voice control, body language, and emotional expression

  • focus on body and voice preparation

Storytelling Methods and Monologue Construction

  • how to create an autobiographical monologue that reflects your personal migrant experiences

Stage Presence and Interpretation Skills

  • techniques for performing on stage, including movement, posture, and focus

  • understanding how to bring depth and authenticity to a story through interpretation

Performance Confidence

  • building self-assurance to perform in front of an audience

  • preparing and performing for a live theatre presentation, showcasing your work to an audience

Manuel Saez is an accomplished actor, theatre director, and educator with over a decade of experience in theatre program development and leadership. He is deeply committed to community engagement, bringing a unique blend of project management, team leadership, and creative direction to his work.

Currently, Manuel is focused on developing innovative theatre courses for seniors and migrants in Melbourne. He has successfully guided numerous theatre projects from conception to execution, ensuring they meet both artistic and community objectives. Manuel takes pride in supporting and empowering his participants, helping them succeed in their artistic endeavors. His passion lies in creating engaging courses that inspire participants and nurture a lasting appreciation for the performing arts.
